Thermal Imaging System for Front Load Trash Trucks

The system provides a thermal imaging system for a front load trash truck that will increase overall safety by immediately notifying the truck operator of the present of an individual in the truck hopper.
This is accomplished by the camera mounted in the front of the truck will detect someone or something in the can before they get dumped into the hopper. There is the second camera in the event that the first camera missed something.
Also 3 cameras are located at the rear of the truck, one on each side left and right, and one in the middle. These cameras will be for detection pedestrians coming from a sidewalk or the camera in the middle will detect someone straight behind the truck.

The present invention can also be adapted for use in other commercial vehicles, such as mail and package delivery trucks, for example.
In operation, the system will be configured to detect the presence of someone in the vicinity of the vehicle via thermal emissions, and will also be able to detect if they are dumped into the hopper accidentally. In the context of the trash truck embodiment, the thermal imaging system will notify the driver via audio and visual alerts when the individual is detected.
ADDITIONAL PROTECTION
This camera is oriented into the hopper and, unlike existing camera systems, provides audio and thermal imaging capabilities to detect if someone falls into the hopper. In some embodiments, additional cameras, microphones, and other sensors are present.
THE THERMAL IMAGING CAMERAS FOR HUMAN AND ANIMAL SAFETY
The thermal imaging cameras will detect if a person or animal is within a container that is being dumped, and prevent injury to the person or animal by alerting the driver to their presence and deactivating the compacting action of the truck.
